Meet Vaquero — Cowboy, Escape Artist, Professional Fun-Haver
Vaquero is a young neutered Pit Bull mix with two special talents: making friends and making his own exits.
This handsome cowboy came to the shelter with his sidekick Chispa, and together they were experts in wrestling matches, zoomies, and general puppy mayhem. Vaquero is very much still a puppy at heart. He bursts out of his kennel ready for adventure, walks with enthusiastic zig-zag energy, and approaches every day like it's the greatest day of his life.
His former owner shared that Vaquero is housebroken, loves riding in the car, and has even had obedience training. Unfortunately, he also discovered that fences and gates are more of a suggestion than a rule. This clever boy reportedly escaped a 5-foot fence and even learned how to open gates, ultimately leading to his surrender. Future adopters should plan on providing secure containment and supervision for this determined adventurer.
When he's not plotting his next jailbreak, Vaquero loves chasing balls, tossing stuffed toys around, and inviting every dog he meets to join a wrestling tournament. He has tested dog-friendly with multiple dogs and enjoys rough-and-rowdy play that may be best appreciated by canine friends who share his energetic style.
Despite all that puppy energy, Vaquero has a softer side. He regularly checks back in for kisses, cuddles, and affection, proving that underneath the chaos is a genuinely sweet and loving dog. He's treat-motivated, takes treats gently, and seems convinced that every person he meets could become his new best friend.
Vaquero still has some growing up to do, but he's already got the important things figured out: life is fun, people are wonderful, and every day should include playtime and snuggles. As he matures, this social, affectionate boy is only going to get better.
Looking for a loyal sidekick with a big heart, a bigger personality, and just a tiny bit of outlaw spirit? Vaquero is ready to ride into your life.
