Meet Stitch – Looking for Her Lilo!
If you've ever watched Lilo & Stitch, you already know one thing: Stitch belongs with her person. This adorable 1-year-old Labrador Retriever/Husky mix is still searching for the human who'll tell her, "Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten"... and actually mean it.
Shelter life has been a little too much for Stitch. She's now in the shelter's Shy Dog Program, where she's learning that the world isn't quite as scary as it first seemed. She can be nervous in her kennel and may need a longer adjustment period in her new home, but with patience, kindness, and a predictable routine, her sweet personality has every chance to blossom.
Once she's outside and begins to feel comfortable, Stitch enjoys treats and is gentle when taking them. She's excited to explore on walks and can pull on the leash, though a harness helps her settle into a much more enjoyable stroll. Like any young dog, she'll benefit from continued training, confidence building, and lots of positive experiences.
Her previous owner reported that Stitch is crate trained, loves riding in the car, and spent her days outside while sleeping inside at night. Because she's feeling stressed and fearful in the shelter, she's currently recommended for a home without children where she can adjust at her own pace. As a Husky mix who enjoys exploring, she'll also do best with a secure yard or supervised outdoor adventures.
