Animal information

A223201

Located At: Angels for Animals (Ohio)
Description: My name is Rukus and I am a male, black and tan Yorkshire Terrier and Chihuahua - Smooth Coated.
Age: I am estimated to be 2 years and 1 month old.
More Info: I have been at Angels for Animals since Sep 22, 2026.
Sometimes we come across a tiny little being that we are absolutely certain MUST have come from The Labyrinth and danced alongside the Goblin King...I mean...this HAS to be a relative of Sir Didymus, right?
Rukus is a tiny elfin woodland creature who is looking for a home that promises to keep track of him and not lose him in one of their coat pockets or underneath a random dust rag. He is a two year old male Yorkshire Terrier/Chihuahua mix who weighs in at a whopping 6.5 pounds. Only slightly bigger than a bag of sugar.
Rukus hitched a ride north with our dedicated doctor on one of her trips to help out our southern sisters. Nobody was interested in adopting Rukus for unfathomable reasons, and we decided to give him a shot in the Great North. When winter hits, he might be a little put out with all of us making such a decision for him, but he says if his new family makes sure he has a coat to wear, he will probably be able to survive...just don't make him go out in a blizzard when its 10 below!
We don't know much about Rukus - he found himself at a shelter after being a very lost, gone astray, tiny bit of a dog. Nobody claimed him and nobody seemed interested in bringing this mythical creature home (and frankly, we don't get it). Rukus will likely need house training reminders, but he is used to a crate and should be fine in one. He can walk on a leash, but oftentimes he prefers that you carry his miniscule butt like the little prince that he is.
Rukus is all joy and happy happy happy. He loves to zoom and zoom and zoom some more. True to his terrier nature, he's a bit of an energizer bunny. Just because he smol doesn't mean he doesn't have fun! Full of energy, sass, and determination. That's our boy! He loves people, loves to play, loves a soft bed, loves a cuddly blanket, enjoys a lap when he is done running laps, and probably will let you choose what to watch on Netflix (but maybe not always). He seems to be okay with other dogs but definitely thinks he is A LOT bigger than he is (as he stands on his hind legs to challenge Badger the Great Pyrenees pup to a duel). He might end up better with girls than with boys, but it remains to be seen! We assume he will be fine with cats - even if he doesn't leave them well enough alone, what self-respecting cat is afraid of....THAT? Due to his diminutive size, he will not be placed with young kids - 12 and up only. Not that he is bad with them, we don't actually know, but kids can be a little rough without realizing it, so older it is!
Rukus is not a dog who can be let to run around outside on his own - this itty bitty boy is in real danger from animals and birds who thing squirrels and bunnies are a tasty treat - Better safe than sorry!
If you are interested in Rukus, he will soon be ready for adoption. In the meantime we are accepting applications in the quest for finding this magical creature the best home for him!
