MEET ONYX!
Onyx is feeling a bit blue - it's kitten season and most visitors are looking at the youngsters and walking past this scruffy mature boy. They don't know what they're missing in this very special cat. Onyx came into the shelter as a stray and was diagnosed with entropion, a painful eye condition causing the eyelids to turn inward and the eyelashes rub against the eyes. If you've ever had even one eyelash in your eye you can imagine how uncomfortable that was for Onyx. As if that wasn't enough, his teeth were in terrible condition, with many broken teeth and exposed roots. We wouldn't have blamed Onyx for being a total grouch, but instead he's a gentle soul who wants nothing more than a soft bed and plenty of petting. He'll return your affection tenfold - just be sure to send us plenty of "after" photos of the sleek shiny cat we know he'll become!
Like many former free- roaming male cats, Onyx tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Many cats with FIV will have a normal lifespan and have an excellent quality of life. You'll want to follow up with his new primary care veterinarian to discuss his FIV status.
Onyx is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team.
For more information on this or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.+
