I am a spayed female, black and white Staffordshire Terrier and Labrador Retriever.

Age: The shelter staff think I am about 2 years and 11 months old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Mar 24, 2025.
Jessie is another stray dog that found her way to the MCSPCA. Another young dog in poor shape, desperate for attention, and clearly neglected. Her thin body covered in scars, no surprise that an owner did not come claim her.
Jessie received care for her medical needs, and lots of TLC for her broken spirit. Even though Jessie has clearly endured some difficult days, she held no grudges against people. In fact, she loves to be around people and soak up all the attention she can get.
Recently a family decided to adopt Jessie, but after only a couple of days in the home there was an incident which resulted in a minor bite. No bite should be ignored, taken lightly, or dismissed, but we believe that Jessie needed more time to adjust to her new life in a home. Her adoptive family made the difficult decision to return her to the shelter and we do not fault them for that.
Dogs like Jessie have been through a lot and it takes weeks, sometimes even months to figure them out and for them to figure us out. We are hoping that there is an adult only home out there that is willing to see beyond the scars, the past history, unknowns, and just offer Jessie a chance. A chance to adjust. A chance to trust. A chance to feel safe. A chance to know what it feels like to be loved.
