Bio: Meet Flicka!
Flicka is an incredibly sweet, loyal, cuddly, and smart girl who has spent 4.5 months in foster care. When she arrived, she didn’t know basic commands, but she quickly learned sit, down, stay, come, shake, heel, quiet, off, up, and leave it. She is a fast learner who loves praise, treats, cuddles, and being with her person.
Flicka is happiest as your one-and-only pet. She is reactive toward other dogs and other animals, so she needs a home that can continue her training. She also experiences anxiety around unfamiliar sights and sounds, which can cause barking. She has made tremendous progress learning her triggers and settling in the home, and medication was recently started to help with her anxiety.
Despite her barking, Flicka is incredibly loving with people and typically settles quickly after meeting someone new. She especially loves neck, chest, and belly rubs, Kongs, being brushed, soft singing, and following her person around the house.
Flicka would do best with a patient, experienced adopter who is home often, ideally someone who can continue her training and help her feel safe and confident. She needs a calm environment, predictable routines, and someone willing to understand her anxiety rather than expect perfection.
Flicka has so much love to give. Her foster family believes there is a special person out there who will see past her challenges and give this wonderfully affectionate, intelligent girl the forever home she deserves.
