Age: The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 2 months old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since May 22, 2026.
Penelope came to the shelter after her previous owner was no longer able to care for her. She has been with us for some time, as she arrived pregnant and needed to focus on raising her kittens. Now, Penelope has been spayed and she’s ready to put her mama days behind her and find a home of her own!
Her previous owner described Penelope as friendly, affectionate, and playful. She does have a shy side, though, and she needs a little time to build trust with new people and feel comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings. Once she knows you and feels secure in her environment, her sweet personality really shines through — she becomes a relaxed, affectionate companion who enjoys being comfortable in her surroundings.
Because Penelope can be easily overwhelmed when things feel unfamiliar or busy, we’re looking for a quiet, calm home without young children where she can settle in at her own pace. Her ideal adopter will understand that earning her trust may take a little patience, but the bond you build with her will be well worth it.
Penelope is also fond of passive, friendly cats and previously lived happily with another cat. A calm feline companion could be a wonderful match for her, provided introductions are done slowly and thoughtfully.
Penelope is currently eating a special diet while in our care. This may not be something she needs long-term once she leaves the shelter, and our staff would be happy to discuss her dietary needs and recommendations with potential adopters.
