Meet Smaug — A Little Wiggle, A Whole Lot of Heart!
Smaug may have been Cadamus’s partner in crime during their little chicken-chasing adventure, but this sweet boy is ready to leave his mischievous days behind and find a place to call home! These two apparently decided that a farm full of chickens looked like the perfect place for an afternoon adventure. The chickens’ owner had a different opinion, and Smaug is now ready to trade his farmyard escapades for something much better: a family of his very own.
When Smaug arrived, he was very underweight, and it was clear that life hadn’t been as kind to him as it should have been. But here’s the beautiful thing about this boy: his circumstances haven’t dampened his spirit one bit. Smaug has shown us nothing but kindness, gentle behavior, and a sweetness that makes you stop and wonder how a dog who may have experienced so little kindness can still have so much love to give.
And then there’s his tail! At some point in his young life, Smaug’s tail was docked, but what he lacks in tail length, he more than makes up for in enthusiasm. When this boy gets happy, his entire backend wiggles! It’s the cutest little happy dance, and we suspect it will be nearly impossible to watch without smiling. Who needs a full-length tail when you can make your whole body do the happy dance?
Smaug has shown us that he has all the makings of an amazing companion. He’s gentle, kind, and has a disposition that makes you want to wrap him in love and show him just how wonderful life can be. He doesn’t need grand adventures or fancy things. He needs a safe place to rest, a full belly, a soft bed, and people who will treat him with the kindness every dog deserves.
There is something incredibly special about a dog who has been through difficult circumstances and still approaches the world with gentleness. When dogs have experienced hardship, the simplest things can mean so much: a kind voice, a gentle touch, a comfortable place to sleep, and someone who keeps showing up for them. We can already see that Smaug has so much love to give, and we can only imagine how much he will blossom when he finally knows he is safe and home.
If you’re looking for a sweet companion with a gentle soul, a resilient spirit, and a built-in wiggle machine where his tail should be, Smaug might just be your perfect match!
His past may have brought him some challenges, but it doesn't have to define his future. Smaug deserves a life filled with full food bowls, cozy naps, kind hands, and people who will love him simply for being the wonderful boy he is.
He started out as a partner in crime, but now he’s ready to become someone’s partner in life. Could you be the one to show Smaug that his best days are still ahead of him?
