Age: The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 6 months old.
Weight: 48 pounds
More Info: I was picked up in Charlotte.
I have been at the shelter since Feb 19, 2026.
I am available for adoption.

Adoptable Kage and the lessons he learned during his convalescing:
Kage was hit twice by a car before arriving at Animal Care & Control in February. He had fractures in both his pelvis and tail. After intensive surgery and a recovery that included strict crate rest for a couple months— Kage is fully healed, has learned so much and is ready for adoption!
Lesson #1: Life is worth living. Kage lives within a never ending well of happiness and silliness. He will add so much color to the lives of the family that chooses him!
Lesson #2: Toys? Bones? Spectacular, give him 14 of ‘em right now! So little time to get through a play session with bones then toys then toys then bones so having a plethora of all and any types would make Kage the most content boy.
Lesson #3: Treats? Say less. Kage is an actively engaging and smart boy. For treats he would do most anything. Sit? Got it. Down? Easy. Shake? Dab him up, bro! Stay?…but why when you’re taking the treats away…
Lesson #4: Friends are important. Kage would greatly benefit from a playmate or two. He has puppy energy to burn and is learning boundaries but has been respectful with dogs and cats alike.
Lesson #5: Patience truly is a virtue. After months of recovery and rest Kage is raring to go, go, go! He will listen when it’s time to leash up and go out for walks and added bonus is he won’t jump up in excitement. He is learning how to be patient on walks( getting better everyday on the leash), and will need patient adopters as well to show him the best way “to dog”. He has been good about learning boundaries and adjusting to them(but again, patience will do wonders!)
All in all, Kage is a healthy, fully recovered, happy and spunky boy! A family with toys, a yard, a playmate or two and some patience when teaching him would be so incredibly lucky to call him their own!
