If you're looking for a loyal best friend, adventure buddy, cuddle companion, and honor-roll student all rolled into one handsome dog, Peanut Butter might just be your perfect match.
Peanut Butter has spent time in foster care and on numerous field trips, and everyone who meets him quickly joins the "Peanut Butter Fan Club." Despite spending over 100 days in the shelter, he has adapted beautifully to life in a home and continues to impress everyone he meets.
This smart boy learns new commands at lightning speed. He already knows "sit," "shake" (with both paws!), "leave it," "off," and even mastered the game "which hand" in seconds. He's currently working on "stay" and thrives with clear, consistent direction. Peanut Butter is eager to please, listens exceptionally well, and genuinely enjoys learning.
In the home, Peanut Butter is a dream. He's fully house-trained, sleeps quietly through the night, has excellent manners, doesn't counter surf or beg for food, and has never been destructive. When it's time to relax, he's happiest curled up beside you—or even better, in your lap while enjoying a favorite chew bone.
For active families, Peanut Butter is the perfect companion. He loves hiking, running, exploring trails, riding in the car, and feeling the wind in his face. He's athletic, adventurous, and absolutely loves the water. Whether he's swimming at the Whitewater Center or exploring Anne Springs Close Greenway, Peanut Butter is always ready for the next adventure.
But don't let his adventurous side fool you—he also has a sweet, sensitive heart. During a recent swim outing, he carefully watched over his teenage companions and even barked in concern when one stayed underwater a little too long. His foster family jokingly promoted him to lifeguard duty! Peanut Butter forms strong bonds with his people and will be an incredibly devoted companion to the lucky family who adopts him.
He has done wonderfully around people, crowds, strollers, runners, cyclists, loud noises, and other dogs during his outings. He enjoys canine companionship and may love having a dog friend to play alongside. He has shown some curiosity about cats, but because introductions were limited, a proper cat assessment would be recommended.
Like many playful dogs, Peanut Butter enjoys toys and can be a strong chewer. Occasionally, he'll play a fun game of keep-away with a favorite toy, but he's easily redirected with treats or a trade. He has also shown some gentle, playful mouthing as he becomes comfortable with people, which stops immediately when redirected and is easily replaced with a toy.
Peanut Butter is the perfect blend of active and easygoing. He'll happily join you for a hike, swim, or run, then settle down for a nap on the couch afterward. Add in his good looks, intelligence, loyalty, and loving personality, and it's easy to see why everyone who spends time with him falls in love.
