Stellaluna the Fruit Bat arrived at the shelter in December missing most of her hair and severely underweight. A few months later, she is healthy and glowing and ready to search for her forever home!
Fruit Bat hasn’t had the easiest life, and needs an understanding and patient adopter who can meet her where she is. Right now, she is best suited for a home with no other pets and limited people coming and going while she continues working through her stranger danger. She would do best with a shepherd experienced owner, or experience with fear reactivity in other large breeds.
Fruit Bat needs proper introductions to new people but once she trusts you, she loves you with her whole heart. She loves to snuggle in bed, watch you eat dinner, and play fetch with her squeaky toys. She is a silly and affectionate girl who loves belly rubs and playing hide and seek.
She will never be a brewery dog but for the right adopter in a quiet home, she will be the most loving and loyal companion. She is reactive to everything (people, dogs, bikes, cats) and needs a lot of confidence building, but her reactivity seems mostly fear driven due to severe under socialization. It’s possible that with time she could have animal companions - you can email the foster for updated notes.
