Bennie is a very special dog with so much potential! He adapted quickly to his foster home and is eager to find his forever family.

Bennie has a great personality and is a staff and volunteer favorite at the shelter. He is sweet, friendly, and very personable—he is so expressive that it sometimes feels more like having a little kid around than a dog! He enjoys attention and affection but also has an independent side. If his human is busy, he will happily entertain himself, voluntarily hang out in his kennel, or take a nap. He is funny and playful, and affectionate-- just a great guy with a big smile and a loving heart.

Bennie loves going on adventures! He enjoys riding in the car, swimming, hiking local nature trails, going on walks, or doing just about anything with his human. He also enjoys being brushed and does well with baths.

Bennie is incredibly smart and learns quickly! He is potty trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands like, sit, stay, down, and back. He also knows shake. Bennie does great with older children (ages 7+) and could be a wonderful family dog for the right household.

He has completed his heartworm treatment and is a healthy boy!

Bennie loves going on walks and continues to work on his leash manners. He has a strong prey drive and should not be adopted to a home with cats or small animals. In public settings, he can be reactive to other dogs but he is redirectable with treats and would benefit from continued positive-reinforcement training. At the shelter, Bennie has participated in playgroup and was friendly with other dogs, although he has a “rough and rowdy” play style.

Bennie is an easygoing guy looking for his forever family. Whether it’s relaxing at home or heading out for an adventure, he’s happy just being with his people.
