Duke is having a difficult time adjusting to the shelter environment and appears uncomfortable with close interactions at his kennel. He has displayed defensive behaviors, including barking, growling, showing his teeth, lunging at the kennel door, and attempting to bite when a hand was placed near the kennel. Duke will need a patient, experienced adopter who can give him the time and space he needs to feel safe and comfortable.
