I am a neutered male, tan Poodle - Standard.
Age: I am an adult animal
More Info: I am available for adoption now!
“BOBO” is a 7-year-old (06/24/2019), neutered, apricot AKC Standard Poodle who weighs 51 pounds and is 25 12 inches tall. BoBo’s records show that had been called “Boaz”, but his previous owner called him “Bo”. While Bo is a cute name, the one syllable word made it sound more like “No”. So, with the help of various people and the staff at Barrington Oaks Veterinary Hospital (thank you, Kat!) it was decided to call this cute boy “BoBo”! Perfect! BoBo, (who likes his new name) had been deeply loved and well cared for by a senior couple. Sadly, after the couple’s health began to fail, they could not keep up with the care of BoBo. The family stepped in and provided care for their parents while BoBo came to us. As pictured on our web site, we had to shave BoBo naked because he was so badly matted. Our Vet was able to remove the massive balls of hair that was growing down into his canal. It was extremely painful, so he had to be sedated to remove the hair. Then they were able to flush his ears clean and insert an Oto Pack (antibiotics) which treated his ear infection. Despite all that Bobo has endured, he is a VERY friendly, sociable and loving boy who greatly enjoys being with us and everyone he meets. He follows us around the house, greatly enjoys attention that people give him when we are out in public and if you don’t pet him, he will use his muzzle to get your attention. He has been a perfect house dog (house trained), so he has free access to our home all the time, even when we are gone and at night. While he has been an only dog, he likes our older Standard Poodles but really would enjoy playing tag with another large dog. As a typical Standard Poodle, BoBo has a strong hunting instinct. He will chase the squirrels (and any other rodent) that come into our backyard, bark at the deer who look at him and sniffs out a treat that has been misplaced. BoBo loves going for our daily 2-mile walk. Just grab his leash and he knows what’s going to happen next: “A WALK!! Yeah! Let’s go so I can see some more squirrels!” BoBo does pull on the leash but is learning to walk a little slower. *A SECURELY FENCED YARD WILL BE RECOMMENDED. *You must be physically able to handle a Standard Poodle. *Preference will be given to a family with past Poodle experience. *PLEASE: *NO cats and NO small dogs as he will chase them. *No aggressive or assertive dogs as they scare him and me. *Like most all rescue groups, we do NOT adopt our Poodles to homes more than 1 day’s drive (round trip) from our location here in central Minnesota. BoBo has now been Vet checked healthy, ears are clean, vaccinations and worming are up to date, teeth cleaned and dental work has been done. He is heartworm / Lymes / Anaplasmosis / Ehrlich tested negative, placed on a preventative, Home Again micro-chipped and registered. Please be aware that BoBo’s ear canals are very sensitive and hairy. So to prevent ear infections, he needs to have a Vet clear the hair out of his ear canals every 3 or 4 months; sedation may be required. BoBo is a RARE OPPORTUNITY for the right family! His adoption fee is $556.00 plus $44.00 for our 7.875% Minnesota state sales tax. This fee helps pay for some of his vet work, a leash, collar, a bag of quality dog food, a large 10-gallon dog food container, treats, 2 large dog beds and lots of good information to help your Poodles adoption move forward on the right paw. Sorry, but BoBo's AKC papers were lost during his family's move. Yes, these papers are not important for BoBo, but we do try to preserve the AKC lines (heritage) of these Poodles by supplying them to the "Poodle Pedigree" data base.
