I am a spayed female, red and white Australian Shepherd.
Age: I am an adult animal
More Info: I am available for adoption now!
Coco is a 4 year old sweet, affectionate brown Mini American Shepherd with one brown and one blue eye, a full tail, and weighing around 25 lbs. Coco is packed to the brim with a big heart and an even bigger personality. She is spayed and up to date on shots. Coco finds herself in rescue after her family received some significant medical diagnoses that impacted their ability to meet her needs. Coco absolutely loves being with her people and forms strong bonds with her family. Once she chooses her favorite person, you’ll usually find her happily following them from room to room. While she may take a little time to fully trust new people, patience and affection go a long way, and once she feels comfortable, she’s incredibly loving and loyal. Coco greets new people with lots of enthusiasm! She may bark, jump, or wiggle with excitement at first, but she settles down fairly quickly once she’s had a chance to say hello. An active girl, Coco loves her daily walks and gets excited as soon as the leash comes out. She’s generally easy to walk and stays close without pulling. She enjoys taking in all the sights and smells along the way. She does currently bark at unfamiliar people and other dogs while on walks, but she’s making progress with consistent training in her foster home. Fetch is one of Coco’s favorite games, and she’s happy to bring the ball or toy back for another throw—most of the time! She enjoys being around children and seems to thrive in a home with activity and people she loves. When it’s time to relax, Coco enjoys curling up with her favorite person at night whenever she can. During the day, if her family is away, you’ll often find her perched on the back of the couch, watching the world go by through the window. On warm summer days, one of her favorite places to cool off is stretched out over the floor vents, soaking up the cool air. She rides well in the car, though she’d much rather be riding shotgun—or even better, sitting on a trusted person’s lap. Coco knows “come” and generally responds well, though she can become distracted if she spots a person or another dog she’d like to investigate. Like many Aussies, she’s smart and eager to learn, and she continues to improve with consistent training. Coco can be reactive toward other dogs, particularly larger dogs, and may bark and charge toward them. Because of this, she would do best as the only dog in her new home or with an experienced adopter who is committed to continuing her training. Her foster family has already been working with her around neighborhood dogs and during walks, and she has shown progress. Coco would thrive with an active family that can provide regular exercise, mental stimulation, and plenty of love while also offering calm, confident leadership. She enjoys several walks each day, playing fetch, and spending as much time as possible with her people. She loves affection and isn’t shy about asking for it. If she’d like some pets, she’ll gently nudge your hand as a reminder. She’s insistent enough to let you know she’d love some attention, but never overbearing. She would do especially well with someone who enjoys having a loyal companion by their side and can give her the love and attention she thrives on. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side and be part of your everyday adventures, Coco may be the perfect match.
