Bio: And the shelter-wide award for perkiest ears goes to… Travis! This two-years young gorgeous German Shepherd looks as though he could hear you call him from a mile away! In addition to their stylish appearance, German Shepherd’s erect ears also provide significant functional and health advantages. They act as highly sensitive acoustic radars to pinpoint sounds, naturally reduce the risk of trapped moisture and ear infections, and serve as visual tools to communicate. Travis’s volunteer friends think that he’s got much more going for him than just these glorious ears, with one sharing:
“Travis is a stunning little guy who is looking for a loving home where he can work on building comfort and confidence! Today was my first time meeting him and I sat with him in his kennel before leashing up. We made our way out for a walk around the lake. He was a velcro dog and stayed right by my side, seeming to feel the most confident if he was touching me. We made our way around the lake and sat down in a grassy area. After a few minutes he stood right next to me and enjoyed gentle pets and massage from his head all the way down to his tail. Having this calm time together really seemed to perk him up. I saw glimpses of the sweet and playful puppy that I know will emerge once he’s in a safe home and away from all the scary noises of the shelter. Our walk back was also very nice, with him sticking close to me. We would occasionally stop and I would give him pets. Return to kennel and unleashing was easy. He’s a very good boy!”
Travis has shared his kennel politely with other pups here in the shelter and has kept to himself when meeting other dogs in playgroup. Travis is looking for a patient and understanding family who will take things slow and provide him with a safe environment to decompress and provide him with predictable, positive routines to help him acclimate to his new family and home. He will likely benefit from having a confident, friendly dog in the home to help him learn the ropes and settle into the family rhythms. If you’re looking for a pup who will reward your patience and love with a lifetime of gratitude, come meet Travis today!
