Bio: CENSUS DEADLINE
5PM FRIDAY 06/13/25
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION OR FOSTER
About: Loyas is an energetic and playful young girl with a real zest for life! She’s bouncy, goofy and will thrive in a home where she gets lots of playtime and enrichment and can join her family on all of their adventures. Loyas also LOVES treats and is very food motivated, which will make training a breeze! Here’s what volunteers have said about this silly sweetheart:
“Loyas is absolutely beautiful! She’s friendly too and likes to cuddle. Easy to leash in the kennel and she loves zooming in a yard with her kennelmates. It’s so fun to watch them.”
“Loyas has really made great progress! Offer this lady a treat and she’d sit nicely for anything you could ask of her! She exits the kennel area fairly nicely and does GREAT on her walks. She has a super adventurous and curious spirit, so enjoys sniffing and observing her way through the park. Every once in a while she gets a bit excited, but is easy to redirect and continues on her way. She also does great with a boisterous kennelmate. Very proud of this sweet girl and think she deserves to get some experience in a calmer home environment where she can really shine.”
The shelter accommodations are a bit cramped for an active and smart girl like Loyas, and she’d love to find a home of her own soon. She shares her kennel politely and would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. Ask to meet Loyas today!
Available for foster care (2+ weeks) or adoption through PACC.
Interested parties:
Must visit PACC before the 5:00PM Friday June 13th, 2025 deadline to meet with a counselor who will review notes and introduce you to the dog to ensure that it’s a good fit. Some dogs may also require an introduction to any dogs they may potentially live with.
Home Management Plan
1) In Shelter Decline
• Due to shelter stress, she has been declining with handling and getting jumpy and mouthy with handlers
• They will need time to decompress in a home and readjust to life outside of the shelter.
• They may be overstimulated for the first few days after leaving the shelter.
2) Dog Introduction Required - shares kennel well, but selective with flighty dogs
• Stimulus control concerns, may be too much for some dogs and only semi-respects corrections from dogs and handlers
• Would do best with a confident dog of her similar size who has good play skills
3) Needs Training
• Loyas has been in the shelter a long time and will need proper decompression time and support to transition into a new home
• She can get over-excited (stimulated) easily and will need a calm environment to learn the ropes of being in a home
• Work on positive reinforcement with your new pup.
• Reach out to TOP Dogs (topdogshelp@gmail.com) or an outside professional trainer for assistance.
4) On Prozac
• Do NOT stop medication without consulting your personal vet.
• MUST be tapered - stopping abruptly may have negative effects.
