Bio: Willy is a tender-hearted and observant pup who is back at the shelter after spending time in a foster home. This sweet boy is looking for a patient and understanding adopter who can help him continue building his confidence. Though initially shy, Willy has won over the hearts of volunteers and fosters alike. One volunteer shared, “Willy is a timid guy who needs patience and TLC. He was easy to leash and enjoyed a walk with his kennel mate. He’s quiet and observant, happy to explore at his own pace. I saw glimpses of his goofy side when he rolled around on his back in the sun. After a few minutes, he cautiously approached me for pets and melted into ear scratches and chin rubs.”
During his time in foster, Willy showed he is crate-trained and finds comfort in having a safe space to retreat to. He enjoys calm, predictable routines and walks well on a leash, though he sometimes pauses to take in his surroundings. His foster noted that Willy is highly food-motivated, which has been helpful in encouraging him to open up.
A mellow pup at heart, Willy loves sunbathing, watching the world go by, and seeking affection on his terms. Though shy at first, he warmed up to his foster and started greeting them at the baby gate in the mornings—one of many signs of his growing trust. He isn’t particularly interested in toys but enjoys gentle interactions and enrichment activities like food puzzles. Some of his cutest quirks include rubbing against his foster’s legs like a cat, nudging for extra bedtime pets, and his adorably bouncy ears during walks.
Willy would thrive in a quiet home with patient adopters who will let him adjust at his own pace. A mellow dog companion could help boost his confidence, but he would also be happy soaking up the sun in a peaceful backyard with his favorite humans nearby. We don’t know much about his past before arriving at the shelter, but he is slowly learning what it means to be loved and cared for.
Could you be the one to show him what a true home feels like? Come meet this special boy today!
