Bio: Sometimes dogs come into the shelter and actually improve over time, becoming more confident as the result of receiving tender care from staff and volunteers. Little Gaby is one of these dogs! She was quite scared when she first came to us, but her sunny personality is shining through as she is becoming more and more comfortable with shelter routines!
Gaby’s shelter friends are thrilled to see her come out of her shell, sharing;
“I worked with Gaby this morning. Once out of her kennel she walked mostly loose-leash to the park, with only a few brief pauses. We sat down and she was willing to approach, but not quite ready for pets. We had a good walk back.”
“Gaby is the most adorable little munchkin! She was a little nervous when I met her in her kennel this morning, but we were able to get leashed up and walk over to a play yard. She walked easily, with no pulling. Once in the yard, she sniffed around and explored. She is so funny, I sat on the ground with my back against a bench and she climbed up on the bench behind me to sniff my head, nuzzle and nibble my hair and give me little kisses on my forehead! She is a hilarious little girl and in true heeler fashion, she even tried to steal my hat! She wanted to play so badly, bouncing around and play-bowing, but she wasn't quite sure about me yet and wasn’t comfortable with me petting her. I know that she will absolutely open up in a warm, patient home! She takes treats very gently and gets along very well with her kennelmate.”
Sweet little Gaby shares her kennel politely with a friendly pup and will likely do well in a home with a friendly, confident pup to learn from. She enjoys sunbathing in playgroup and hanging out with her trusted buddy.
Gaby is dreaming of a furever home with a family who will give her the opportunity to use her heeler skills productively through games and training, and who will give her time to adjust and feel safe.
We know that Gaby has a lot of love to give; might you be the one lucky enough to receive it?
