Bio: Sonora is a desert beauty with a heart as wide open as the Tucson sky! This resilient girl hasn’t let a rough start in life dim her spirit- she’s affectionate, curious and loving. Here’s what her former foster family said:

“Just meeting Sonora touched our hearts. In just two short weeks, we’ve seen how smart, affectionate, and eager to learn she is. She's got the energy to enjoy hikes and playtime but also knows how to settle in and relax. Sonora has been an ideal home office buddy, curling up quietly on her bed during work hours. She walks well on leash, doesn’t chase wildlife, and has been doing great on her training—she’s house trained and learning sit, stay, watch me, and leave it.

Sonora is deeply affectionate and lives for connection with her person. She loves to cuddle, get belly rubs, and will press up against you while you relax. She’ll put her head in your lap, gently ask for attention, and melt into your arms. Her curiosity is one of her most endearing qualities—she wants to know what you're doing, whether you're cooking, watering plants, or just opening a cabinet. She even enjoys a drink from the hose and loves to explore.”

At the shelter Sonora is a day trip and pawjama party favorite who has been described as energetic, sweet, playful, curious and affectionate!

“Sonora is a great dog! Loves kisses...a lot. Very kind and loving.”

“Sonora is very fun, playful and sweet. She enjoys a lot of attention and gets excited easily. She is friendly with people and dogs. She slept through the night.”

Here’s what one volunteer at the shelter said:

“First time meeting Sonora today. She was very easy to leash and we left the kennel area quickly and easily. Once outside she was a REALLY nice walker, sat perfectly for treats and made great eye contact. I really enjoyed our time together. She was calm and enjoyed sniffing everything as we walked. I was very impressed by this girl today!”

Sonora has been tolerant and easygoing when meeting other dogs in playgroup. She’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit.

Sonora has a huge heart and is ready to share it with someone who will give her the love and stability she deserves. Give her a chance and she’ll be your most devoted friend! Ask to meet her today!!
