Bio: Sweet boy Algernon is a sensitive cutie who is looking to build a real and lasting connection with his furever family. If you’re looking for a short-term fling, move along- Algernon is ready to commit for the long haul!

Algernon recently spent a day at a volunteer’s house on a day trip:

“Algernon walked easily over to my car. He wasn’t sure about the car at first, but after a few moments of coaxing with treats, climbed in. He felt much more confident in the car on our return trip to the shelter. It took Algernon about an hour to settle into the new environment (my home), but once he did, he napped so hard that he was snoring and dreaming! Lots of big, relaxed “I feel safe” puppy dog sighs too! His favorite spot to lay was on the cool tile. He likes face and head scratches and leans into you for hugs. He took treats gently from my hand and didn’t beg while I ate lunch. He is chill, well behaved, house broken. By the end of our day together he was pressed up against me snuggling, with my husband in the room (he was nervous around him at first). Algernon would make an incredibly sweet house dog, he just takes a little while to relax, get comfy and know he is safe.”

Algernon also went on a quick day trip out on the town where he had positive interactions with children and was described as relaxed, curious and easygoing.

Volunteers at the shelter adore spending time with Algernon too, with one saying the following:

“It was my first time walking Algernon, and I'm a fan. He was very eager to get outside and was easy to leash up. After going potty, he walked with a fairly loose leash. He noticed a few birds that decided to land right by us, and he watched them with curiosity, but did not pull or react. He calmly enjoyed a few treats and responded to praise by looking up at me. He's a very good boy!”

Algernon has shared his kennel during his time at the shelter and hopes to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit.

If you believe that love is forever, come meet Algernon today!!
