Bio: In ancient Rome, food tasters, known as “praegustatores,” were employed to sample food and drink before it was served to important individuals like emperors and nobles. This practice was a safeguard against poisoning, a common method of assassination. While death by pasta isn’t something that most of us worry about, we may have a praegustore to introduce you to, if you have your concerns. Our discerning boy Morgan would love to help keep you safe from questionable fish and loneliness!

One of our shelter staff members has fallen head-over-heels for Morgan:

“My favorite guy here, Morgan, is making so much progress! He is still nervous with handling, but is much more tolerant of it now and even chooses to initiate interactions with me. He also takes all different kinds of treats now instead of just the squeezy cat treats! Leashing and unleashing is still a bit scary for him, so the key is to go slow and use lots of treats. He is skittish on leash and appears nervous about all the noise, but otherwise does very well now. While he still likes to explore the yard, I find he's more interested in me and my treats now. Love this guy!”

A volunteer friend said the following:

“Morgan is fairly new to the shelter and is learning our routines. I’ve taken him out twice this week and am seeing improvements in him, even in this short amount of time. When I enter his kennel, he is ready to head out. He is a nice walker. Once in the play yard he has begun to explore with a high, waggy tail. He got a couple of zoomies in and even ran around with his kennelmate for a short time today. He will approach to sniff my treats, but apparently I haven’t yet had anything that he likes enough to eat. He has discerning taste! I’m sure he will continue to open up and gain comfort with continued patience and care.”

Morgan is looking for a savvy family who is willing to put in the time and devotion that a fearful dog needs. He needs a family who will not rush him to cuddle or be handled right away but will allow him to decompress from the stress of the shelter in a secure environment and open up in his own time. Morgan has shown us that he truly wants to love and be loved, he just needs a family committed to taking things slow.

Morgan shares his kennel with another PACC pup and has been independent when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading to a new home to ensure a good fit.

If you’re looking to make a difference in a deserving dog’s life, look no further than Morgan. Come on down to meet him today!
