Bio: The transition to monsoon season in Tucson is such a special experience. Those first monsoon breezes fragrant with creosote and the crack of thunder across the sky is enough to make you stop in your tracks and take in the sights, scents and sounds. No matter how hard we wish that we could rush those clouds and quenching rains to come faster, sometimes you just need to patiently wait for good things to come in their own time. Little lady Olive knows a bit about this; she’s a gentle soul who is dreaming of a patient family who will give her sufficient time to relax and learn to trust as she settles into her furever home.

Olive spent a few days in a foster home and we learned that she’s a sensitive sweetie who needs time and TLC to decompress. She was crate trained in the foster home and walked well on leash. Here’s what some of her volunteer friends have said:

“I walked Olive today for the first time. I leashed her without issue and then she followed me out of the kennel easily. She is a sweet and shy little dog.”

“Olive is a cute LBD (little black dog) who needs to get out of the shelter ASAP! I spent time with her in a play yard today and she was nervous. She spent her time in the yard sniffing every corner, exploring and taking everything in. I knelt down next to her and she allowed gentle pets for a short time. I think she will really open up in a safe and secure, quiet home environment and then she’ll really be able to enjoy affection and love from people!”

Olive shares her kennel with another PACC pup and has been independent and easygoing when meeting other dogs in playgroup. She may benefit from having a confident and friendly doggy buddy to help her settle into a new home. Olive is hoping for a family who will keep her safe and understand that decompression can’t be rushed. She deserves a real chance at belonging in a family! Just like the refreshing monsoon rains are worth the wait, we wholeheartedly believe Olive will be as well! Come meet her today!
