Bio: Johnny Boy is a sensitive young pup who came to the shelter with untreated valley fever. He’s gotten great care from the PACC clinic team and needs a family who will continue his care as he continues to feel better each day. Johnny Boy needs help building confidence and has been working hard to be brave with the help of his PACC volunteer friends. Here’s what one of them said:
“I met Johnny Boy in the clinic and made him one of my regulars. He was so sick with valley fever that he was underweight, in pain, lethargic and walked slowly with a limp. As he recovered, he became more responsive to me, as I wouldn’t give up telling him I loved him, reinforcing that with his favorite treat, cheese. Eventually he accepted me as part of the furniture, until the day came last week, right before he was moved to the floor, that he followed me with his eyes in a friendship way, and gave me the supreme compliment of eating his cheese in front of me. I walked him twice in his new kennel on the adoption floor, and both times he came over to the service side to be leashed. He is walking so much better, interested in his surroundings and sniffs, and he accepts gentle touch, which I think he never had in the past. Yesterday was our best walk and time together, with a nice, quiet sitdown where he could enjoy his surroundings, no fears, just being content. Today I went to walk him and found that he has a roommate. As soon as he saw me he came right up to the door. I just spoke to him today, and I know he was a little disappointed. Tomorrow we will resume, and I will work with him until he is as socialized and confident as he can be in a huge shelter. He is endearing, smart and good by nature. He has the potential to be a wonderful companion!”
Johnny Boy shares his kennel with another PACC pup; he has lived with other dogs and would likely do best in a home with other dogs. Please ask to meet this very special boy today!!
