Bio: The literal translation of the name Hirsch from German means “a large, grass-eating hoofed animal, specifically an adult male red deer or stag.” So how did our shelter pup Hirsch get his name you ask? Your guess is as good as ours! As far as we know he prefers kibble to grass, and he doesn’t seem to have hooves… However he got his name, he’s a volunteer favorite with plenty of fans. Here’s what one of them said:
“Hirsch is the newest addition to my favorites list, and he remains firmly there. He was happy and easy to leash and walk through the kennel areas. Out in the park, he walked with a loose leash, checking in with me frequently. He will sit very quickly on command and take treats very gently. When I sat on a bench, he stayed close and enjoyed eating some treats. Eventually, he came very close and laid his head on my lap and closed his eyes while I scratched his head. I can’t find one fault with this stunningly handsome boy.”
