I am a male, blue and white American Pit Bull Terrier mix.

More Info: I have been at the shelter since May 07, 2026.
Pluto is a silly, lovable boy who is looking for a home of his very own! He’s been working hard with our Training & Behavior team to brush up on his doggie manners, and this big guy has been such a good student.
When meeting some new people, Pluto gets excited and will attempt to mount their legs. We think this behavior started primarily as a way for him to cope with stress, but over time it’s become one of his favorite pastimes. You might say he likes to make a memorable first impression! While his enthusiasm can be a little much for some people (and some dogs), we’ve been helping Pluto learn that there are plenty of other fun ways to say hello.
One of his favorite new greetings is to grab a toy and bring it over for a game of tug — a much more socially acceptable way to make friends! He’s also learned some great life skills, including going into his kennel for a break, walking nicely on leash, and showing off his sits, downs, and hand targets. And bonus: he’s perfectly house trained!
Pluto may not have everything figured out just yet, but he’s making great progress, and we know there’s a special person or family out there who will appreciate his goofy personality, laugh along with his antics, and enjoy helping him continue to learn and grow.
If you have room in your life for a big, silly hippo, Pluto is ready to meet you!
Pluto does enjoy spending time with other dogs, but his enthusiastic greetings aren’t always appreciated by his canine friends, so we think he’ll be happiest as the only dog in the home.
Because of Pluto’s size and exuberant personality, HSBV will only rehome him to a family without children or with children over the age of 16.
