Animal information

A335788

Located At: Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter - Santa Cruz
Description: Staff named me Hibiscus* and I am an unaltered female, brown and white German Shorthaired Pointer and Labrador Retriever.
Age: The shelter staff think I am about 4 years old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Oct 08, 2026.
You may adopt me as soon as I am spayed or neutered!
Meet Hibiscus, the female mixed breed. Hibiscus came into the Shelter as a stray so we don’t know about her past. We suspects he may have some German Short Haired Pointer and Lab in her breed mix, but it’s just a guess based off of her looks. Hibiscus has been soft and melty since her arrival at the Shelter – leaning into people and soaking up all the love she can get. Typical to her suspected breed mix – she loves to play fetch. Having a tennis ball around would be a great reinforcement for positive reinforcement training in her next home (along with treats, of course!). Hibiscus has met some dogs at the Shelter and was indifferent. We haven’t seen her necessarily play with dogs but she has coexisted after an appropriate introduction. Any resident dogs should meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. We do not have any history of Hibiscus with children or other animals.

Hibiscus is available for pre-adoption. Come meet her, fall in love and take her home after her spay surgery.

The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!

Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
