Located At: Santa Fe Animal Shelter
Description: My name is Nico and I am a neutered male, tricolor Mixed Breed.
Age: The shelter staff think I am about 3 years old.
More Info: I am now available for adoption.
A volunteer and staff FAVORITE! Nico is a 3 year old dog fully grown at just a bit over 50 pounds. He came to us as an owner surrender when his owner sustained a significant injury and could no longer care for an active dog.
Behavioral observations worth passing along:
(1) Nico was so good when we saw other dogs. We probably ran into 10-20 dogs, with a few in packs of 3-4 dogs off-leash, and Nico was totally fine saying hello to everyone -- tail wagging the entire time. In my 4-5 hikes with him, I don't think I've ever heard him bark.
(2) Nico was so good with people! On my first or second hike with him, he would become a little nervous when we passed or were being passed by large groups of people. I would usually pull him over to the side, and we would just wait. Today, however, there was none of that. He was totally relaxed when passing people. Similarly, he was totally relaxed in the car.
(3) Nico and I had another great hike today (Bear Wallow) and then walked around Canyon Road/East Alameda/Santa Fe River. Nico continues to be so good and so happy on the trail.
Nico’s adoption fee has been paid by a special person. He is neutered and microchipped and has age-appropriate vaccinations. A licensing/microchip fee may apply.
