Meet Gambit (A568106)
Gambit arrived as an emaciated stray at the end of May with a large hot spot on his neck which had to be tended to by our medical team. He received wound care for a while and worked on gaining weight during that time. Once he was in better shape weight wise, our medical team shaved around his neck to make the healing process a bit easier.
Now, Gambit has landed in our adoption area where he is in much better shape than he was when he first arrived. A lot of people see the shaved area on his neck and steer clear of him, but the fur will grow back and it's just a part of his story for now. He is a very sweet, playful guy who definitely would prefer to live life with a human by his side whenever possible.
Gambit walks well on a leash, but doesn't currently wear a collar since his neck is still healing. He loves being outside and is content with doing his own thing in the yard, but loves it when you take the time to play with him as well. He is a big fan of toys and likes it when you throw them for him.
Gambit has only been tested with one female dog thus far, and played a bit too rough for her liking. He might be compatible with a different female dog, so if you're considering adopting Gambit, a meet and greet might be in order with your pet to see if they get along.
After everything Gambit has been through, we are hopeful that he will find a loving family.
Gambit is estimated to be around 2 years old and weighs 45 pounds. All animals adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are microchipped, appropriately vaccinated, spayed/neutered and given a 30 day flea/tick preventative.
