Cleo arrived after being found by a kind citizen who placed her in a crate to keep her safe until our officers could pick her up. She was overwhelmed during her first few days at the shelter, unsure of everything happening around her. Now that she has settled in, she is warming up to staff and showing us how much sweetness she has to offer.
Cleo is a gentle little girl who approaches the kennel gate with a wagging tail and a hopeful look. She does not mind being carried and seems to appreciate any moment of closeness. With her long body, stubby legs and oversized ears, she appears to be a dachshund mix. Her ears are so big she could probably fly away if she ever felt like it. She loves treats and takes them politely, happily focusing on you with those giant, expressive ears.
While Cleo is social and affectionate, she is still very unfamiliar with a leash. She becomes overwhelmed when one is clipped on, so her adopters will need to introduce leash walking slowly and patiently. Routine and predictability will help her gain confidence.
Cleo would be a great fit for a family looking for a small, loving companion who enjoys affection!
