Located At: Indianapolis Animal Care Services
Description: My name is Stitch and I am a neutered male, gray and white American Staffordshire Terrier.
Age: I am about 3 years old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 18, 2026.
Please verify Stitch’s age: you listed 3 years, while his exam estimates 6–9 years. I’ve left age out below.
Stitch is a 60-pound boy whose wagging tail made a sweet first impression. He allowed an officer to leash him and later tolerated all handling during his veterinary exam, even with irritated skin and other physical discomforts. We are still getting to know his personality, but those first interactions offer a lovely starting point: a dog willing to accept help and give people a chance. Stitch deserves someone who will take that same chance on him.
A comfortable home, a predictable routine, and someone attentive to his needs would give Stitch the opportunity to settle in and show us more of himself. His exam noted skin irritation, fleas, and dental concerns, including a broken tooth, so his adopter should speak with our adoption team about his care and any follow-up needs. His experience with cats, children, and other dogs is unknown. There is something special about getting to discover a dog’s favorite things for the first time. For Stitch, that could mean finding his favorite resting spot, enjoying time with his person, and finally having a place where he belongs.
All adoptions include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving the shelter's care. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet
