I am a neutered male, black and brown Flat-Coated Retriever mix.

Age: The shelter staff think I am about 1 year old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 14, 2026.
Coming to us as a stray after being seen roaming for a few days, this guy and his canine friend entered a neighbor’s yard and decided to seek solace on their porch… Meet Lee! While safely contained, they awaited our officer’s arrival to assist, getting in a little rest and reprieve from the heat in the meantime.
When our officer arrived, they noted that Lee - a black and brown flat coat retriever mix - being a little more timid than his friend, required a good ‘carry me to the truck’… to which our officer kindly obliged.
They both remained here at the shelter for their stray holds and, with no chip or ID tag and no one noticing them posted to our website as all strays are, no family came to reclaim them.
Because they were strays, our information about them is limited… but what we do know is they are both a little nervous being here but are BOTH super sweet! They get along great with one another and habe both met another canine friend since arriving.
Lee/A320979: 1 year old, neutered male, 47.50 pounds. Met a new friend here at the shelter, he first had to get used to the leash… remember, he is the ‘carry me, please’ baby! While he was nervous with his new friend, he too tried to hide behind the humans present, letting them know he is also just a sweet boy!
We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption to ensure a great fit for all. And we do NOT recommend a home with cats for this guy and for the cats in the home!
We are a first come, first served and in-person adoption center and are located at 430 Bristol Drive in Statesville, NC.
We are open for adoptions
Monday-Friday 12-5pm
Saturdays 11am-2pm
All of our adoptable dogs/puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and UTD on all age-appropriate vaccines/preventatives. Adopters will need to establish vet care upon adopting to maintain their new family member’s health and wellness. We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption to ensure a great fit for all.
And remember the 3-3-3 Rule when adopting a shelter pet.
3 days for your new pet to decompress
3 weeks for your new family member to settle in
3 months for them to build trust
Lee’s adoption fee is $40 – NOW thru end of day August 22, 2026!
Please bring a collar and leash OR purchase a combo from us for only $15 to safely take your new family member home.
