INFO: Meet Wetherby - one of our Long-Stay Legends!
Our Long-Stay Legends have been at the shelter for over a year and it's time they find the homes they deserve. Long-stay Legends are placed on our Urgent List to boost their visibility and highlight their fantastic attributes in order to fast track their journey home. We believe that year is far too long to wait for a forever family and so does Wetherby!
Wetherby is a sweet and loving dog. Playful, goofy, and smart(knows basic commands), he would make an easy transition into any family home. He enjoys long walks but is also content with a good nap. House-trained, potty-trained, and well-mannered around food. He may sometimes bark at new people in the home but settles well once he knows you. Overall, he behaves well on leash. He may pull moderately if he catches the sight or scent of a squirrel, we're working on it! Wetherby hasn't met other dogs up-close, but at a safe distance (5-6 feet) has not shown any signs of reactivity.
On walks he has been tolerant of environmental things like motorcycles, sirens, loud cars, lawn mowers.
Wetherby loves to go on car rides, and makes an excellent & respectful passenger. Additionally he tolerates bath time well, is crate trained, and has not made issue of being crated at night. He has shown some separation anxiety but his foster says that has much improved with some familiarization of the home and of his people's routine. He would likely do well in a home where his owners can be patient while he settles into a routine and adjusts to his new family. Once he gets settled in, he loves to be included in activities and spending time with his people.
