Hi, I'm Styx! I'm a playful kitten who is looking for a home, I can't wait to meet you!
This kitten tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus). In kittens this positive status is typically due to FIV antibodies passed in the milk from the mother and is rarely due to true FIV infection. Since the result could be due to these maternal antibodies, NOCO Humane will retest the kitten once it is at least 6 months old (if it is still under the care of the shelter) and/or recommends you see your veterinarian to retest at least 6 months old as recommended by the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
Until that time NOCO Humane will treat the kitten as FIV positive and will provide more information about the disease at the time of adoption, but recommends you discuss this condition with your veterinarian and follow any recommendations she/he provides. The adopter will be responsible for any additional testing recommended by her/his veterinarian.
