Description: I am a spayed female, black and tan German Shepherd Dog.
Age: The shelter staff think I am about 2 years and 9 months old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Sep 21, 2026.

Meet Delilah, a sweet 2-year-old German Shepherd who is looking for a patient and understanding family to call her own. Delilah was surrendered to our care and is now ready to find a home where she can feel safe, build confidence, and form a strong bond with her people. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all age-appropriate vaccines.
Delilah is a very shy and skittish girl when she first meets someone. She will need a family who understands that trust may take time and is willing to work with her at her own pace. She may be nervous in new situations and will benefit from a calm, patient home that allows her to settle in without pressure. Once she begins to trust you, her playful side starts to come out, especially when she is outside and has toys to enjoy.
At this time, Delilah has not shown any signs of knowing basic commands, so her future family should be prepared to help her learn through patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement. Building her confidence and teaching her the basics will be an important part of helping Delilah become the best version of herself.
Delilah has done okay around other dogs while outside, but because she is still learning to feel comfortable and confident, multiple interactions may be needed to determine the best canine match for her. Delilah has also previously lived in a home with cats. We recommend slow, supervised introductions with any resident cats to make sure everyone is comfortable and safe.
Because we do not have any known history of Delilah living with or interacting with children, we recommend a home with children ages 14 and older. Her future family should be prepared to give her space and allow her to build trust at her own pace.
Delilah is looking for someone who will see the sweet dog underneath her nervous exterior and give her the time, patience, and understanding she needs to blossom. If you are willing to earn her trust and help her build confidence, Delilah may be the loving companion you have been waiting for.
If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.
My adoption fee is $150
