Chops: A Sweet Senior Ready for His Forever Couch
Meet Chops, a loving senior who has been waiting at the shelter since February—far too long for a good boy like him! Overlooked time and time again, Chops is desperate for a home where he can finally rest his head in peace and comfort.
A Social and Playful Soul
• Dog-Friendly: Despite his senior status, Chops is a social boy who thrives in the company of other dogs. He regularly attends playgroups, enjoys romping around, and is vocal when playing—that's just his fun-loving personality shining through!
• Affectionate: Chops is okay with being petted and is a friendly, social dog who has so much love to give. He needs an owner who will shower him with the gentle hands and warm heart he deserves.
Chops is an active senior, but he requires structure to manage his enthusiasm:
• Leash Manners: Chops is easy to leash in his kennel, but he exhibits a strong pull on walks. He is also reactive to dogs he passes while on the leash. His new owner needs to be committed to managing his energy and training him to walk politely.
• Vocal Explorer: He can be vocal when walking, often sniffing and barking (non-reactively) at kennels he passes. He is happiest when he gets to run in a fenced yard and explore!
• Needs a Recall Tune-up: Chops is currently not treat motivated and has poor recall—when called in the yard, he was more interested in running around! Because of this, Chops requires a home with a secure, fenced yard where he can safely play and burn off energy.
Senior dogs like Chops deserve soft beds, warm hearts, and a peaceful home—not loud kennels and concrete floors. If you are looking for an active, loyal friend to join you for his golden years, Chops is ready to bond deeply with you.
