A243571

Located At: Orange County Animal Services Foster Home
Description: My name is Princess**.
I appear to be a female, red Pit Bull Terrier mix.

Age: The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 8 months old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Dec 23, 2024.

My name is Princess and I am just that - royalty! I came to the shelter when my previous owners could no longer care for me and I am looking for my next home. I came in with several other dogs that I seem to get along with well. Come meet me today! Like many dogs in NC, I am currently heartworm positive. OCAS will be helping by beginning my treatment but you'll need to follow up with your veterinarian! During treatment I will be on an oral medication and will need to get a topical solution monthly until I have a Negative Heartworm Test. If you have any questions about this please ask to speak with a member of the medical staff.

Insights from my adventure buddies and foster family:
"Princess is one of the sweetest gals you'll ever meet! ...She is SUPER gentle. She greets people low and slow, but immediately gives all the humans she meets lots of affection and so many kisses! I think this would make her a great family dog.
She did well riding in the car. I did have to help her into the car (she's a lot lower to the ground than she looks in pictures). Once in the car, she laid down right away and just snoozed for most of the ride.
Princess spent the snowy weekend at my apartment and she did great. She was a total couch potato and was happy spending the whole weekend napping next to her people (or on their lap, lol). She is food motivated and picks up commands quickly. She also had no major problems on the leash. She did pull on the leash, but was easily redirected. She did not pay much attention to squirrels, deer, or other dogs while on the leash.
Princess and my dog were kept apart out of caution - they did bark when they saw each other. I have a feeling this was because of the stress of being in a new place, and Princess was not actively seeking out any conflict. With enough post-adoption decompression time and proper/monitored introductions, she may do well with another dog! The three-day weekend was just not enough time to tell for sure.
If I could adopt a second dog, Princess would be at the top of my list. Consider this sweet doggo if you are looking to adopt. You will be so glad you did!"
"Princess was the snuggliest girl! She genuinely just wants to cuddle all day. She was very gentle with everyone she met and never barked once! She also seemed to be potty trained and didn't have any accidents in our apartment! She's interested in trying to play but just likes to play with her toys on the couch, but overall she seemed to just enjoy cuddles and naps the most."
"Princess is an absolute sweetheart. She has a heart of gold and tons of love to spread. We have been fostering Princess for 2 weeks now and have fallen in love with her. She is very treat and food motivated. Her favorite thing to do is give lots and lots of kisses. She is very quiet in the house and peacefully sits on the couch or bed. She is not reactive to other dogs on walks and minds her own business. She loves going to the park and playing fetch. We took her to the beach and she wasn't a big fan of the water but loved playing with her ball and sitting on the beach chairs, soaking up the sun. Everywhere we went, every person who met her fell in love instantly. She loves meeting new people and gets comfortable with them very quickly. She loves car rides and peacefully watches cars go by or snoozes on the back seat. She can't wait to find a forever home who can soak up all the love she has to give."
