Located At: Orange County Animal Services Foster Home
Description: My name is Ramsey.
I appear to be a female, brown and black Pit Bull Terrier mix.

Age: The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 3 months old.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Jun 23, 2025.

I am currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting with me, please email adoption@orangecountync.gov

I was surrendered to the shelter when my previous owner could no longer care for me. I needed time to adjust and I can still be a little shy but I have warmed up thanks to the kind, patient people taking care of me.

My adoption fee has been fully sponsored. Adopt me and pay $0.00!!!

INSIGHTS FROM MY ADVENTURE BUDDIES:
"Ramsey had her very first adventure outside the shelter and she was AMAZING! This once-shy girl has blossomed thanks to so much TLC from the staff and volunteers at OCAS, and it showed as she confidently explored Carrboro Park, curiously meeting kids and adults who kindly let her warmup at her own pace. After a stroll around the pond, we beat the heat with a drive and then stopped at a dog-friendly spot where she was absolutely spoiled with treats, a pup cup, toys, pets, and all the cuddles. We ended the outing snuggled on a cozy couch (truly made for cuddles) for a well-deserved nap. Ramsey was in heaven, and honestly, so was I.  Ramsey is the ultimate cuddle bug. If she finds your lap, that’s her happy place. I know she’ll bring someone a lifetime of snuggles, joy, and gentle love."
"Ramsey is a very sweet girl. She was hesitant to get in the car, but once in, was well behaved. She is a super sniffer, and makes a cute little snorty sound and she tries to take in all the aromas. She was also curious about the kittens at the shelter (behind glass). We had a nice walk in the woods. She’s gentle and friendly."

"Ramsey was such a sweetie! She was cautious in new environments but warmed up quickly. She LOVES to cuddle! We went for walks, spent a lot of time cuddling and watching movies together. She has the sweetest personality, a wonderful pup!"
"Ramsey is a very energetic and loving dog. She quickly explored our home and was very happy to cuddle on the couch with me. She likes to eat her kibbles from the floor rather than from a bowl. Ramsey was curious about my cat and even took a nap with her in our guest bed with me. If the cat ran away, Ramsey wanted to follow, but I did not get the sense that she thought of the cat like prey as much as a critter she could play with. Ramsey seemed house trained – no accidents. We went outside pretty frequently for breaks. She pulled a little on the leash as we walked but some of the time the leash was a little slack. I took her to Sandy Creek Park for a stroll. She approached the new environment with curiosity and did not try to chase the ducks that were nearby. I took her to Petco to buy a toy and she was very cautious and a bit nervous. I answered "fearful" on the "Behavior Toward Strangers" question, but I think she will be more confident as she settles in with an adopter. She met my neighbors and approached them cautiously but seemed to relax after some time and praise. Ramsey fell in love with our neighbor’s dog, and the two of them zoomied together until they were happily exhausted. She is bouncy and joyful, loves tug-of-war with a big rope toy, and she makes little piggie noises when she is sniffing. Ramsey will make a great companion for someone who will give her a little patience, love, and a bit more training.
There is so much to love about Ramsey. She is intelligent, curious, and joyful."
"Ramsey is thriving in her foster home and has made remarkable progress in building confidence. When she first arrived three weeks ago, she would run away when we tried to put on her collar. Now, she sits calmly—with great form!—and allows us to put it on with ease.
Initially, we had to lift her into the car, though she would settle quickly once inside. Now, she eagerly runs and jumps in on her own and seems to enjoy the ride. She's also beginning to understand our cats' behavior. We have one confident and one timid cat, and Ramsey shows no aggression toward either—no chasing, just curiosity. Despite her enthusiastic puppy bows, she hasn’t yet convinced them to play with her.
Ramsey has met other dogs and had a fun, playful session with Nala (another young shelter doggo) at the shelter yard. On walks, she’s excited to meet dogs of all kinds and remains non-reactive on leash. She responds well to small training treats and encouragement, especially when other dogs aren’t as receptive to her energy.
She’s grown comfortable with us—allowing baths and even tooth brushing—and she’s a total cuddle bug and excellent nap buddy. Ramsey learns basic commands quickly, and we’ve been exposing her to a variety of environments to help her interact with adults, children, cyclists, runners, and even toddlers in strollers.
