I appear to be a female, red and white Pit Bull Terrier.
Age: The shelter staff think I am about 2 years old.
Weight: I weigh approximately 56.60 lbs.
More Info: I have been at the shelter since Oct 05, 2026.
I am currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting with me, please email adoption@orangecountync.gov
I have tested positive for heartworms. But, don't worry! OCAS is treating me and they can let you know more about my treatment if you're interested in adopting me. In North Carolina, it's unfortunately common to see many dogs that are infected with heartworms (they are transmitted by mosquito bites). Heartworm disease may cause severe lung disease, heart failure, or other organ damage in dogs. It's usually fatal if left untreated. Heartworm treatment is costly. With your support, OCAS can help more dogs with this disease - resulting in healthier dogs that are even more likely to get adopted. Please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign.
Insights from my adventure buddies and foster friends:
Thalia is such a sweetheart. She is all smiles and snuggles. She does not pull at all on the leash and is very good walking. She knows basic commands and listens to them very well. She was super good in public and even better at home around other animals, specifically cats. The kitties were unsure at first but she was not too eager and let them come to her. Soon, they were all laying on the same bed. Thalia barely had any fur on her tail and legs, but that did not stop us from cuddling and playing. She loved greeting anyone who came in the house with smiles and full body wags. Meeting new people came easy to her and she loved socializing.
Very sweet girl. Recovering from some skin issues. Great walking, in public, in car, etc.
Thalia has warmed up since she first arrived at OCAS, and is so great to be around! Her skin and hair are healing nicely with help from her care team, and she loves a good scratch around her ears! She's a bit shy at first, but does well with others and strangers. I havent seen signs of any dog-related aggression, and she seems to love to cuddle up and nap when not outside! Such a great dog! I've observed her being quiet/non-reactive to others in the shelter!
Thalia was so so awesome and sweet. So chill and laid in the car so well. When we took her on a long walk she stayed right by our side. So mellow and kind and just wants to hangout!
