Hello! I came to the shelter as a stray, so my history is mostly a mystery. I am a very sweet dog, I did great for my intake exam, and I love treats! Like many dogs in NC, I am currently heartworm positive, but don't worry - OCAS will cover the cost of my treatment and they can give you more information about that if you are interested in adopting me. In North Carolina, it's unfortunately common to see many dogs that are infected with heartworms (they are transmitted by mosquito bites). Heartworm disease may cause severe lung disease, heart failure, or other organ damage in dogs. It's usually fatal if left untreated. Heartworm treatment is costly. With your support, OCAS can help more dogs with this disease - resulting in healthier dogs that are even more likely to get adopted. Please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign.

Moana was so playful and silly on our walk! We found a toy left behind by another pup, and she couldn't get enough of it! She proudly showed it off, and even let me grab the toy to play with her. Such a kind and sweet lady that I hope others get to meet! She was ever so slightly skiddish, but warmed up very quickly once she got to know you! She loved to roll around in the grass & spend time outdside!"
