Description: Thank you for visiting my profile! My name is Archie.
Bio:
Name: Archie Age: 9 years
Breed: DSH Sex: Neutered male
Colour: Orange Size: 7.58 kg

The staff at the OHS call me a Co-pilot! Co-pilots thrive on being an involved family member, and will likely want to spend a good chunk of their time with you playing, chatting, training, and snoozing. They can handle alone time if you give them enough to do, and their favourite independent activities usually include exploring tunnels, perching by the window, playing with novel toys, and cozying up for a nap. But be ready, because these social kitties will be waiting for you! If you're having guests over, you might find your Co-pilot at your side acting as your official greeter. And if you're working around the house a Co-pilot might just want to help - keep an eye on your keyboard! Co-pilots may also be good candidates for harness training and leash walks outdoors. After living with a Co-pilot, you'll wonder how you ever managed without one.

The OHS suspects I previously had a “kissing lesion” near one tooth, but this area now appears stable, and no treatment is needed at this time.

I have suspected irritable bowel syndrome.

I had a history of decreased appetite and vomiting that have improved after treatment with prednisolone (a steroid). At this time, I may have a condition known as inflammatory bowel disease. This may mean I need to be on a prescription diet and medication for life. I may also need more veterinary care such as monitoring blood work and/or diagnostics such as an ultrasound, endoscopy, or other tests.

I had some teeth extracted and my upper lips now catch a bit on my lower canine teeth. This is common and does not generally cause a problem in the long term. My lips should be monitored going forward.

I have a history of eating non-food items. I will need to be monitored around toys and other objects that can be chewed/ingested to make sure I do not eat them.

I am overweight, and I will need a veterinarian to oversee my weight loss plan to make sure I lose weight safely. I may need a prescription veterinary diet and regular veterinarian visits to follow my progress.

I am a "Foster-Me-First" adoption. You can find more information about the Foster-Me-First Program at https://ottawahumane.ca/adopt/adoption-faq/#answer14 or call to speak to the adoption team.

I have a history of living in harmony with other cats.

If you are interested in setting up an appointment to adopt me, please complete an adoption application at https://ottawahumane.ca/adopt/adoption-application/. Please be advised that although we do offer on-the-spot-adoptions, this is dependent on appointment schedules and cannot be guaranteed.
