Bio:
Name: Connie Age: 9 years old
Breed: Border collie Sex: Spayed female
Colour: Black Size: 22.66 kg

My foster family says: "Connie is a sweet, silly girl who loves attention from humans and playing with her canine foster siblings. She may be older, but don't be fooled, she has loads of energy and loves her exercise! She is excited when meeting new dogs so she comes on strong, but settles down and has made many dog pals while in foster. She's also a champion snuggler. Connie is house trained, crate trained and an all around very good girl."

The staff at the OHS call me a Performer! Performers love being at the centre of attention and are usually excited to meet all types of people, often introducing themselves! Performers need a high amount of exercise daily, and would love a daily hike, jog, bike ride, or long session of fetch every day. To work their minds, Performers usually love the excitement of food puzzles, frozen treats, training games, and hide-and-seek!

Performers need to be integrated into the family and are usually pretty fun to take out and about for family activities - they love being where the action is! After a good day of socializing and exercising, you'll usually find Performers flopped down next to you to enjoy some quality sleep time. If you're looking for an active, social companion, then you'll have lots of fun with a Performer!

I have a small skin tag on my left shoulder. It is unlikely that this will be a problem in the future however it should be monitored.

I have had intermittent lameness on a front leg that should be monitored. I may need future veterinary care with diagnostics and medication if this lameness worsens or becomes more frequent.

I have some teeth that are worn. This is likely due to me chewing objects that are too hard. I will require regular veterinary check-ups to monitor my teeth. In the future I may need dental care for this condition under general anesthesia, possibly including dental extractions or other procedures.

I have some dental tartar on my teeth, and some associated gum inflammation. I will likely require a thorough oral health assessment and dental cleaning under general anesthesia within the next year.

I often feel frightened by new people and situations. It will take time, patience, and training to help me adapt when I'm scared.

This dog suffers from degenerative joint disease (DJD), also known as osteoarthritis.

I am looking for a home with children over 10 years of age.

I am currently relaxing in a foster home as I wait for my forever family. Please contact an adoptions staff to book an appointment to meet me!

If you are interested in setting up an appointment to adopt me, please complete an adoption application at https://ottawahumane.ca/adopt/adoption-application/. Please be advised that although we do offer on-the-spot-adoptions, this is dependent on appointment schedules and cannot be guaranteed.
