From my foster: "Caliga is a smart high energy girl who is quick to warm up! When in a new situation she can be very nervous but once given a quick reset in a quiet space she relaxes. Caliga is well behaved and knows plenty of tricks and responds to commands! It would be best to work through her dog reactivity with a trainer or behaviour specialist, even during reactivity with an experienced handler she has been responsive to commands. Caliga loves staying active through exercise, play and walks! She should be monitored around her toys but hasn’t gone after any personal items. If you’re looking for an active and snuggly dog to share your home and your bed with, Caliga is the girl for you!"
The staff at the OHS call me a Performer! Performers love being at the centre of attention and are usually excited to meet all types of people, often introducing themselves! Performers need a high amount of exercise daily, and would love a daily hike, jog, bike ride, or long session of fetch every day. To work their minds, Performers usually love the excitement of food puzzles, frozen treats, training games, and hide-and-seek!
Performers need to be integrated into the family and are usually pretty fun to take out and about for family activities - they love being where the action is! After a good day of socializing and exercising, you'll usually find Performers flopped down next to you to enjoy some quality sleep time. If you're looking for an active, social companion, then you'll have lots of fun with a Performer!
I am housetrained!
I get really excited when I want to play, I jump and mouth! Because of this, I am looking for a home with kids 10+!
I don't always appreciate unfamiliar dogs in my personal space and I'm not ready to make friends with every dog I meet. I need slow, gradual introductions when making new friends. It would be best if I went to a home where I was the only canine companion!
I have some dental tartar on my teeth, and some associated gum inflammation. I will likely require a thorough oral health assessment and dental cleaning under general anesthesia within the next year.
I have some teeth that are worn. This is likely due to me chewing objects that are too hard. I will require regular veterinary check-ups to monitor my teeth. In the future I may need dental care for this condition under general anesthesia, possibly including dental extractions or other procedures.
I had a neoplastic mass removed from my vulva while at the OHS with clear surgical margins. I am suspected to have a good prognosis and am ready to find my forever home.
I come with complimentary dog training at the OHS, so we can bond and learn lots of new things together!
