Bio:
Name: Ms. Cher Age: 8 years
Breed: DSH Sex: Spayed female
Colour: Black Size: 2.75 kg

My foster family says: "Cher is a sweetheart and is friendly, sociable and loveable, chatty and is a wonderful companion. She's playful and her favourite toys are crinkle balls, hose springs and a stuffed mouse. Cher loves cat tunnels, spending time on top of a cat tree basking and looking out the window. She likes jumping high to catch her toys and purrs constantly. Cher will talk your ears off and chatters not only at birds but at her laser toy. Cher is social, playful, talkative and sleeps with me and is still a big lap cat and constantly purring."

The staff at the OHS call me a Co-pilot! Co-pilots thrive on being an involved family member, and will likely want to spend a good chunk of their time with you playing, chatting, training, and snoozing. They can handle alone time if you give them enough to do, and their favourite independent activities usually include exploring tunnels, perching by the window, playing with novel toys, and cozying up for a nap. But be ready, because these social kitties will be waiting for you! If you're having guests over, you might find your Co-pilot at your side acting as your official greeter. And if you're working around the house a Co-pilot might just want to help - keep an eye on your keyboard! Co-pilots may also be good candidates for harness training and leash walks outdoors. After living with a Co-pilot, you'll wonder how you ever managed without one.

This cat has a history of food fixation, and would become easily overstimulated during feeding times. On one known occasion, she became overaroused and bit a familiar person as they were trying to prepare her food. With structured feeding time twice a day, as well as appropriate stimulation, Ms. Cher is no longer displaying this behaviour. She would benefit from adopters who are willing to continue her feeding routine so she remains comfortable and relaxed around food. She would also benefit from adopters who mitigate her access to the kitchen, and set appropriate boundaries around human food.

I had mildly enlarged lymph nodes at the OHS likely due to stress or a mild “cold”.

I had a thin, short, or patchy coat while I was at the shelter. This could be from a variety of reasons, from a food allergy to skin condition or illness-but we don't know for sure. I am currently doing well and my coat is growing in. It may continue to improve or I may need further diagnostics, treatment, or other care from a veterinarian.

I have excessive inflammation of my gums, possibly due to feline chronic gingivostomatitis (FCGS).

As I can get overstimulated, I am looking for an adult-only home.

I am currently relaxing in a foster home as I wait for my forever family. Please contact an adoptions staff to book an appointment to meet me!

If you are interested in setting up an appointment to adopt me, please complete an adoption application at https://ottawahumane.ca/adopt/adoption-application/. Please be advised that although we do offer on-the-spot-adoptions, this is dependent on appointment schedules and cannot be guaranteed.
