Bio:
Name: Loki Age: 6 Years
Breed: Retrver Lab Sex: NueteredMale
Colour:Black Size: 23.60 kg

From my foster: He really is a sweet dog and is easy to walk (other than when he spots the occasional rabbit!). At night he likes nothing better than snuggling up to you to relax while reading or watching tv.

The staff at the OHS call me a Performer! Performers love being at the centre of attention and are usually excited to meet all types of people, often introducing themselves! Performers need a high amount of exercise daily, and would love a daily hike, jog, bike ride, or long session of fetch every day. To work their minds, Performers usually love the excitement of food puzzles, frozen treats, training games, and hide-and-seek!

Performers need to be integrated into the family and are usually pretty fun to take out and about for family activities - they love being where the action is! After a good day of socializing and exercising, you'll usually find Performers flopped down next to you to enjoy some quality sleep time. If you're looking for an active, social companion, then you'll have lots of fun with a Performer!
I have chewed blankets and toys at the OHS and appear to at least sometimes ingest pieces of what I have chewed, I may be prone to eating toys or other non-food items in the future.

I need to be in a home with no other animals and with kids above the age of 10.

This animal has a malocclusion. Their mandible (lower jaw) aligns abnormally with their maxilla (upper jaw), as a result this animals teeth do not align with each other in a normal way. These misaligned teeth can cause trauma to the gingiva, other teeth or prevent the mouth from closing or chewing properly.

I had “happy tail” at the OHS. Caution should be taken to try to avoid my tail hitting hard surfaces like walls in the future.

While in our care, this dog had recurrent bouts of soft stool/diarrhea. Currently this dog has stable stool while on a prescription diet. It is possible he/she may just need to be on a special prescription diet for life to control the symptoms, and/or may also require long-term medications. Animals on long term prescription medication require periodic blood work to monitor for side effects. You will need to discuss this condition with your veterinarian to develop the best treatment plan going forward. If the soft stool persists once settled in the home, your veterinarian may recommend diagnostic tests such as x-rays, an abdominal ultrasound, blood work, endoscopy with biopsies, and more extensive fecal tests and diet trials.

I don't always appreciate unfamiliar dogs in my personal space and I'm not ready to make friends with every dog I meet. I need slow, gradual introductions when making new friends.

This dog exhibited a poor-quality coat while in our care. There are a number of possible underlying causes of poor coat quality in cats. Currently, this dog’s condition is improving.

I am currently relaxing in a foster home as I wait for my forever family. Please contact an adoptions staff to book an appointment to meet me!

If you are interested in setting up an appointment to adopt me, please complete an adoption application at https://ottawahumane.ca/adopt/adoption-application/. Please be advised that although we do offer on-the-spot-adoptions, this is dependent on appointment schedules and cannot be guaranteed.
