The staff at the OHS call me a Bashful Buddy. Bashful Buddies are known for their slow starts in both exercise and relationships. Because of this, they tend to enjoy a predictable environment, a calm home, and consistent routine, and they really benefit from having someone that pays attention to their needs when they're feeling uncomfortable. While they can take a little extra time to adjust to changes, once they settle in it will feel like they've always belonged!
Bashful Buddies can have different ways of expressing themselves and it might take a little while to figure out their unique preferences. Once comfortable, some Bashful Buddies will enjoy lots of affection, while others may prefer less-interactive companionship. Taking time to find out your Bashful Buddies true personality will help you create positive interactions to help form a solid relationship.
I had a mass that the OHS suspects is a granuloma (inflammatory tissue). I am not expected to have any long term issues as a result of this granuloma.
This puppy was part of a litter that arrived at the OHS with varying degrees of missing fur and scabbed skin. A biopsy sample was taken from the most severely affected puppy and sent for histopathology. The diagnosis from this sample was severe dermatitis with furunculosis, ulceration, crusting and bacterial infection. Dermatitis means there was inflammation of the skin. Furunculosis is a term used for a variety of skin conditions that generally have pustular skin lesions. No specific cause was found for this skin condition. It is possible these puppies had a skin infection secondary to irritation from their bedding, underlying allergy, or another cause. They have been treated for this skin condition, and their skin and coat are improving. Some were treated with antibiotics and/or steroids. They were all dewormed and treated for Sarcoptic mange (the biopsy was negative for this organism). At this time, we do not expect this condition to recur. However, we are not able to rule out that they do not have an underlying allergy or skin sensitivity that could lead to a recurrence of this skin condition if they were exposed to something that irritated their skin in the future. If this dog’s skin condition recurs your veterinarian may discuss diagnostic testing such as skin biopsy, blood work, hypoallergenic diet trials, and/or other medications or diagnostics tests. A copy of this puppy’s medical history at the OHS is provided at the time of adoption for your veterinarian to review. We recommend discussing this dog’s medical history with your regular veterinarian at the recommended post adoption check-up.

This dog is from a litter of undersocialised puppies, who came in past their critical socialisation period. When in new places and around unfamiliar people, they are often very anxious and slow to warm up. These puppies will need ongoing support from their adopters in order to adjust to unfamiliair people, places and things. These dogs would benefit from adopters who are willing to go slow, and help them overcome their insecurities, who also understand the long term impacts of undersocialisation.
