Meet Moody (A570106) ??
A 6 year old, male, 53lb, Pit Bull Terrier
I give you Moody: The soulful, playful surprise!
As with many of my volunteer days, I have my special list of pups I want to highlight and meet that day. This day, I accidentally went to the wrong kennel number to get a dog on my list and there he was: a handsome 6-year-old pup named Moody. For me, that name carries the weight of a past soul dog, and I knew right then and there that I was supposed to meet him that day. Fate definitely knew what it was doing.
The second Moody got out of his kennel, his entire demeanor changed. He let me leash him up without hesitation, and the moment his paws hit the grass, he just lit up. Walking with an extra bounce, looking back at me along the way like he couldn't believe he was outside. We made our way to the big play pen, and once that leash came off... oh boy, was he happy!
He started jumping and letting loose, letting out all that pent-up shelter energy. What blew me away was how smart he is; I gave him a quick correction for jumping up, and he listened beautifully. But the best part? I sat down in the grass, and he came running to me so fast, leaning in and looking up at me as if to say, “Ah, this is the good stuff.” He's the perfect amount of soulful, playful, smart and relaxed (after letting initial energy go). He was a delight.
For a moment, Moody wasn't a shelter dog. He was just a happy, free pup soaking up all the rubs, attention, and playtime he rightly deserves. Moody is ready to find the person who will give him that feeling of freedom every single day. Could it be you? ????
?? Moody hasn't had a chance to be in playgroup yet, but I can't wait to see how he does with other pups! Update to come.
? Please note: The shelter can be a stressful and scary place, and a dog’s behavior here may not fully reflect how they’ll blossom once they feel safe and decompressed at home.
Moody is available to foster or adopt at Prince George’s County Animal Shelter located at 3750 Brown Station Road Upper Marlboro, MD
