Ice is hard to miss when you see her in her kennel. Her dazzling blue eyes seem to plead to you to give her a chance. Ice is easy to leash up in her kennel and comes out with a burst of energy but then settles into a nice easy walking gait after she goes potty and does some sniffs around the yard. She’s a little timid at first, preferring to check out her surroundings instead of coming up to me, but she warms up quickly and shows me that she is bright, playful and affectionate.

Ice is happy to chase a ball or tossed toy in the big field but uninterested in returning it. She dives onto her belly when she gets back to me, waiting for me to toss another toy that she will also fail to return but will race back to me with a big grin on her face. When I crouch down to her level she doesn’t jump on me but will climb into my lap if I sit down. When I stopped to take pics of another volunteer and dog, Ice laid down in the grass next to me and watched calmly. Ice has participated in shelter playgroup in the "gentle and dainty" grouping of dogs. Her notes indicate that she has played well with multiple dogs currently at the facility.

Ice isn’t just a beautiful girl, she also has the sweetest charming personality. She would do so well in a number of homes, if only she is given a chance to be someone’s “family dog” again.

The shelter just started renovations to the room in which Ice lives, and if she doesn’t find a new home within the next week or so, she will be moving into a crate, making her already small accommodations even more uncomfortable 24/7.

If you can foster Ice, even short term, it would make a world of difference to her. Read more information on fostering here: https://www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/departments-offices/environment/animal-services/pet-adoption/foster-information
