Seven has the cutest little face and a big ole grin, so was kinda hard to walk past her kennel without stopping to say “hi”. Once I said hi, she pointedly looked at the leash in my hand and well, what else could I do but take her out for a walk?
Seven has a nice medium energy level. She’s playful but not jumpy. Has moments of pulling on the leash but also plenty of slow walking moments where she catches up on the sniffs and takes her time. She takes treats gently and is not mouthy. When I crouched down to her level, she didn’t jump on me or get up in my face but instead calmly stood nearby to receive her pets and then of course, asked for some yummy treats in exchange for her lovely behavior. I happily obliged. Seven did use the bathroom shortly after going outside and might have had some prior training. She showed me that she knows “sit” and “wait” cues. I had no problem leashing her. She let me pet her all over with no hesitation. She even let me wipe the eye boogies out of her eyes. Based on our interactions I would not hesitate to recommend her for a family with dog-savvy kids and responsible parents.
Seven has participated in shelter playgroup in the "gentle dainty" grouping of dogs. Her notes indicate that she was curious but mainly entertained herself.
The shelter just started renovations to the room in which Seven lives, and if she doesn’t find a new home this weekend, she will be moving into a crate, and her already small world will get even smaller as the noise of construction around her gets louder.
If you can foster Seven, even short term, it would make a world of difference to her. Read more information on fostering here: https://www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/departments-offices/environment/animal-services/pet-adoption/foster-information
