Meet Joy (A572723), a happy-go-lucky pup who seems to believe that life is better when you’re close to your person. And Joy would very much like to be close to you.
At approximately 3 years old, Joy is friendly, affectionate, and far more interested in her people than toys. She walks on a loose leash, checks in with her handler, and has the most adorable ears: one up, one down. Add a permanently waggly tail and you’ve got a pretty irresistible package.
When Joy gets excited, she can get a little mouthy, but she’s gentle about it. Mostly, she just wants to be near you and soak up all the attention she can get.
Joy arrived as a stray on July 31 and was underweight. She’s slowly putting on the pounds and now weighs 37.6 pounds. Even with everything she’s been through, she takes treats gently and continues to show us what a sweet, social girl she is.
Her playgroup notes say it best: “Steerable, tolerant, very playful, social.”
No one has ever complained about having too much joy in their life.

Hi, hello, excuse me… are you looking for a professional fun-haver, part-time athlete, full-time sweetheart, and occasional human leg-rubber? Because Joy has entered the chat.
This girl had SO much fun playing with another dog that I’m pretty sure she submitted a formal request for a permanent playmate. If you have a playful pup at home, Joy says, “Excellent. When can we start the shenanigans?”
Joy is friendly, excitable, and ready to party—but she’s also got some seriously good manners. She went potty right away and several more times, walks beautifully on leash, stays close, and checks in with her person. She knows sit, likes treats, and even tried her paw at some agility training. And let me tell you, she is BRAVE. Obstacles? Weird things? New adventures? Joy says, “I got this.”
She also passed her food test and is very affectionate. In fact, Joy has apparently decided she is part dog, part cat. She’ll rub against your legs asking for pets like a kitty and happily give you kisses because apparently personal space is overrated.
Joy is playful, brave, cuddly, treat-motivated, and just plain adorable. I think she’d make an awesome adventure buddy—and an even better professional couch cuddler once the zoomies are over.
Basically, Joy is ready to bring the joy to your life. And yes, she absolutely knows that pun was coming.
